When you live in Texas, there’s no shortage of events to attend. From festivals and fairs to the famous Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, there’s always something to immerse yourself in. To ensure you don’t miss out on any of the festivities, we’ve rounded up some of the upcoming events that are planned in Texas. Discover everything new and noteworthy that’s happening in Austin, Houston and San Antonio below.

1. Mardi Gras Galveston

Bust out your carnival gear because the Mardi Gras celebrations are here. At the start of each year, usually in the month of February, is when Mardi Gras takes place, featuring an abundance of parades, live concerts, races and other speciality events. You can buy restaurant packages that give you the best balcony views of the festival’s decorative floats, or opt to be part of the parade itself if opportunities aren’t already sold out.

2. Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo

From horse and livestock shows to concerts, carnival rides and barbecue cook-offs, the Houston Rodeo takes every member of the family into account with events that appeal to the masses. From the end of February to the middle of March, bring the youngest members of your clan along or attend with friends instead. Don’t forget to check out the rodeos planned in Austin and San Antonio.

3. The Interactive Selfie Experience

Looking to up your selfie game this year? Well, now’s your chance. TFTI’s interactive art museum is open all year round at The Galleria in Houston. Snap some photos in more than 18 curated rooms including an Infinity Mirror Room and DJ Confetti Room. It’s the perfect place to take a new family portrait or celebrate a special milestone with a loved one, with pictures you can look back on for years to come. Tickets can be purchased online.

4. Fiesta San Antonio

What started out as a single parade has turned into a two-week long event dedicated to celebrating San Antonio’s diverse cultures. At Fiesta San Antonio, there’s concerts planned, contests scheduled and a variety of shows on tap. Let’s just say there’s never a dull moment based on what takes place at this annual event.

5. Folk Fest New Braunfels

Round up the whole family and spend one of your weekends in April celebrating early Texans at Folkfest. Enjoy reenactments of historical moments, arts and crafts, live entertainment, antique shopping, and food and drinks. Admission is $10 and kids under 6 years of age are free.

6. SXSW Conference and Festival

Each year in the month of March, South by Southwest — or SXSW for short — makes its way to Austin. This annual conference and event is dedicated to helping creative people achieve their goals and celebrating tech, film, music, education and culture. From keynote speakers to other exhibitions and festivals, there’s always something cool to explore.

7. Spring Antique Week

Whether or not you collect antiques, Spring Antique Week in Round Top is a must-see. Those who attend will only find genuine antiques and vintage pieces, making this one of the best antique shows in the nation.
