A rising star in the design world, modern Spanish style is an updated twist on classic Spanish flair. Bringing together the best of old and new, this timeless-yet-chic style is all about clean lines, neutral color palettes, layered textures and natural materials. “The style of this interior works so well because of its Spanish influence,” says Dominic De Freitas, Principal Designer at Figure3. “Attention to architectural detail, graphic accents and pops of color make this look refined yet approachable, and the result is a welcoming aesthetic.” Draw inspiration from our new Adams model home at Royal Oaks Landing in Westchase and discover the must-have furniture and accessories needed to recreate this style in your own home.
Kitchen
“The large hexagonal tile used throughout the main floor is a modern take on Spanish clay tile that’s typical of Mediterranean homes,” says designer De Freitas. “Running it throughout the main floor captures that classic Spanish element and gives a grand feeling to the home’s main entertaining hubs. Pairing with white walls, dark wood cabinets and black wrought-iron inspired hardware and light fixtures to punctuate the space and give it a modern edge.”

Living Room
To impart a Spanish feel in the living room while also ensuring it still felt modern, a mix of traditional and contemporary furniture was used. “Light, neutral backgrounds with subtle uses of color are contrasted against wood tones and texture, adding character and warmth to the space,” says designer De Freitas. An ornate wood media console and a pearlescent side table pay homage to traditional Spanish style, while tone-on-tone accents and the clean seating lines help to modernize the space.

Owner’s Ensuite
Spanish-patterned tiles add an artisanal touch to the owner’s ensuite. “The traditional tiles complement the bathroom’s more contemporary references and lend the space a relaxed, modern feel,” says designer De Freitas. And it’s true, the mosaic tile will make you feel as though you’ve been transported into Gaudí’s famous Casa Batlló.
